Three years after fans were first introduced to the new online- only multiplayer first- person shooter video game, those who were initially hooked with its premise are already on the lookout for what the follow- up game will add to the established lore. Prior to the release, Bungie has cleverly teased the arrival of the launch trailer in time with the solar eclipse phenomenon. The marketing trick with the tagline “A day without light” is pretty neat as it not only hyped up existing fans but also intrigued those who are looking to dabble in the virtual world that Destiny has come up with. We already know that the humankind is in a tricky position in the narrative for Destiny 2  so the short clip was a fitting intro to the action- packed full trailer that launched just a few hours after.

The official clip, which you can check out above, sets up the story of Destiny 2 pretty well. It starts off with the main villain, Dominus Ghaul, ruthlessly interrogating a bounded Speaker. The intro in itself effectively gives off a dark and grave vibe of the game leaving only the Guardians as the last remaining beacon of hope in such a grim situation. Following- up with a strong first few seconds, the trailer quickly takes an action- packed turn with Commander Zavala and Ikora Ray infused with some comedic relief brought out by Cayde- 6 casually holding a live and suddenly offering hugs. The full video offers a slew of new footage, giving us a closer look on various planetary settings, as well as, several new armor sets too.

All in all, it is made up with a mix of theatrical footage and regular gameplay. Even with just the launch trailer, fans can already notice the difference in tone that Destiny 2 is going out. It definitely looks a lot darker and more serious than its predecessor as Cayde- 6, Commander Zavala and Ikora Ray launch a three- man mission against Cabal which, chances are, will result in deaths. The Beta test for the title will take place in a few days –  those who pre- ordered the game will be able to sample the title on August 2. August 2. 9 and will last until the 3. Destiny 2 will be available starting September 6 for Play.
