With much of her time being spent in proximity with the Raizada family, hatred soon begins to turn into attraction between the two, though they both try desperately to ignore their feelings for each other. It is only after they are caught in an intimate, unplanned moment that Arnav feels propelled to take desperate measures, announcing his engagement to Lavanya and breaking Khushi's heart in the process. He is shocked to learn a few days later, however, that his hasty decision spurred Khushi to finalize her own engagement to a man staying as a paying guest in her home.

The paying guest is Shyam Jha, Arnav's brother- in- law. The truth is that Khushi was forced to get to engaged to Shyam because her aunt felt that the family was indebted to him & thought he was a noble man. Khushi is asked to organise Lavanya & Arnav's engagement party. A series of events lead Lavanya to realise that Arnav is love with Khushi & she therefore breaks off her engagement. Khushi's sister, Payal, gets engaged to Arnav's brother, Akash. The Gupta soon learn that Shyam is the son- in- law of the Raizada family & kick him out of their house. They keep this from the Raizadas & try to avoid Shyam like the plague.

It turns out Anjali, his wife & Arnav's sister, is pregnant. Khushi has a new admirer in NK (short for Nand Kishore), Arnav's brother from Australia. Arnav does not take competition for Khushi's affections very well. Nani & Anjali try to matchmake Khushi & Arnav.
